  20.     This information is authorized for distribution 
  21. only to individuals who are members of the U.S.
  22. Military Affiliate Radio System, Civil Air Patrol,
  23. or other government agency services specifically 
  24. permitted by the FCC to use non-Type-Accepted 
  25. equipment such as that utilized in the Amateur

  31.     *    Remove Antenna and Battery
  32.  
  33.     *    Remove (6) black screws in rear plastic cover 
  34.    plate (where the battery would normally fit)
  35.  
  36.     *    Remove the (1) small black screw in the battery
  37.    slide switch (see figure 1 below for screw 
  38.    locations)
  39.  
  40.     *    Loosen (but don't remove) the (4) black screws 
  41.    on the upper back of rear case and slightly 
  42.    separate the rear radio case.
  43.  
  44.     *    Remove the "L" type plastic cover
  45.  
  46.         CAUTION: Watch out for the delicate ribbon cable
  47.  
  48.     *    Locate and unsolder jumper pad #6 (see Figure 2 
  49.    below for jumper locations) (Pads 1,7 should now 
  50.    be jumpered) (Stock, Pads 1,6,7 only)
  51.  
  52.     *    Reinstall the "L" type plastic cover
  53.  
  54.     *    Tighten the (4) case screws on rear case
  55.  
  56.     *    Re-install the (6) black screws in rear plastic 
  57.    cover plate.
  58.  
  59.     *    Re-install the (1) small black screw with the 
  60.    battery slide switch
  61.  
  62.     *    Now attach the antenna and battery
  63.  
  64.     *    Turn off Radio...  Press and hold both UP & Down 
  65.    Arrows Keys (right side) while turning on the 
  66.    Radio
  67.  
  68.     *    Modification now complete!
